This is my favorite ride to do, its the longest I have done as im not much of a distance guy but this is well worth it. Although the peak of the trip is the kangamangus Highway which is only 28 miles long, out of the 97 mile trip its so worth it.
I start in Portland and take 302 all the way until Conway NH, thats a long time on that one road, but there are some really nice points.
After I get out of the city I go through Westbrook, then Windham, its kinda busy, not very scenic so its a little boring. Although there is always someone in windham who wants to play around against the R6, whether is a civic or another bike its all in good fun and most the people are cool around here like that. The only problem in windham is the :cop: , they are tough on wreckless driving, and even worse on bikes. Especially if you have any mods, luckily im stock except for some body parts, although I got hassled once for having my plate not visible. These are all reasons though why I am well behaved on my bike and I set an example for other bikers.
After Windham comes Raymond, Naples and Casco area. It starts to get nice here. You go by the water in raymond and a few mom and pops shops that are cool. Then Casco Which has a lot of dirtbike and four wheeler stuff, kinda neat to see things from the other avenue. Then Naples, this is my favorite part of the Maine section of the road. The causeway is the place to be in the spring and summer, its always full of people from all over just to be at the water and eat at the restaurants. Ricky's is a really fun place, they have live music quite a bit and the food is good. There are jet ski rentals, plane rides and the songo river queen. Plus the attention if you show up with a bike is well worth it. ;)
Then comes Bridgton and Fryeburg, these are the older more rustic feeling towns. Maine street in Bridgton is covered with antique shops and bargain hunters going into Renys. The magic lantern is the coolest movie theater I have ever been in, they just rebuilt the place and each room has a theme, and balconies! Fryeburg is a neat town, the roads are can get rough in here though. The old bowling alley is fun and the famous Fryeburg Fair is held here every year.
Then comes Conway NH, this is a really cool town with a lot of things to do, there is a train ride, and indoor water park, and the food is great. My highschool prom was here. What I love about spending money in New Hampshire is NO TAXES:excited:
Then comes the kangamangus, its the nicest ride you can do. Its curvy, bendy, up, down, and SMOOTH. The views of the mountains and rivers are spectacular. You are nestled in with the trees and edge of the hill at times. You follow along with the riverbed for most of the ride. It's a good time.
I head in to Lincoln NH for one last fuel stop and maybe a bite to eat, then turn around and do it all over again!
